Stretching across the United States and into Canada, Strategic Materials recycles and processes glass and plastic. Our processed materials are then sold to manufacturers to make a diverse set of products including glass containers, fiberglass, beads, abrasives and fillers.

Chris Dods

President and Chief Executive Officer

Chris DodsChris Dods joined Strategic Materials as President & Chief Executive Officer in January 2020.

Mr. Dods has significant executive leadership experience in the environmental and industrial services industries with a proven ability to drive sustainable and profitable growth in the sector. Prior to joining Strategic Materials, he served as CEO of Clean Earth, one of the largest specialty waste companies in the United States.  He also served as President, Environmental Services Division at Philips Services Corporation and earlier in his career he was a Senior Vice President at Aramark Corporation.

Mr. Dods graduated from the United States Naval Academy.

Mike Hajost

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mike Hajost

Mike Hajost joined Strategic Materials as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2019 with responsibility for the global finance and information technology functions.

Prior to joining the Company, Mike was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Accuride Corporation, a leader in developing and manufacturing wheel-end components for the heavy trucking and trailer industry. In total, Mike has over 26 years of corporate finance and leadership experience in both publicly and privately owned businesses across a wide range of industries. He also served for five years as an officer in the US Army.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Booth Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.

Mike works and resides in Houston, Texas.

Curt Bucey

Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer 

Curt BuceyCurt Bucey is focused on driving broad industry initiatives that will ultimately enable Strategic Materials to be one of the most influential companies in glass recycling in North America and abroad. 

Curt’s extensive experience of over 30 years in the glass and glass recycling industries range from time in glass container manufacturing and sales, to purchasing, operations, and sales of cullet from all types of suppliers and customers. He was integral in the expansion of the Strategic Materials Glass Division from 10 to over 40 locations and was part of the team that spun off Strategic Materials from a NYSE company into a private equity backed business.

Curt joined Strategic Materials in 1993. He has had many leadership roles at Strategic Materials including President, Glass Division & Chief Operating Officer: Chief Commercial Officer: Vice President of Sales and New Product Development; and General Manager –Central Region. Prior to joining Strategic Materials, Curt was employed by Anchor Glass, one of the Glass Division’s top ten customers and held many different leadership roles.

Curt has been a member of several private and nonprofit boards, including the National Recycling Coalition. Curt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Purdue University. Curt, and his wife, Maura live in Houston with their five children.


Sherry D. Williams

Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President of Human Resources

Sherry D. WilliamsSherry D. Williams joined Strategic Materials as Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President of Human Resources in January 2021. 

Williams is an accomplished legal strategist and expert in managing compliance, with a proven ability to develop a culture of trust and integrity across the globe. Prior to joining Strategic Materials, she served as vice president, deputy general counsel and chief ethics and compliance officer for Jabil, an American worldwide manufacturing services company. She also served as senior vice president, chief ethics & compliance officer for Halliburton, one of the world’s largest oilfield service companies. 

Williams is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law.  When stepping away from legal duties, Williams serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations, including Brown Girls Do Ballet, which promotes diversity in the arts by providing annual scholarships, a mentor network, and community programs to empower young girls. 


Laurie Borg

President of Canada

Laurie Borg

Laurie Borg joined NexCycle Canada as President in March 2008 with responsibility for NexCycle’s Plastics recycling operations in Canada. His role was subsequently extended to encompass all Canadian glass operations and glass operations in New England and Upper Midwest in the United States.

Prior to joining the company Laurie was Chief Operating Officer for a large automotive and industrial plastics manufacturer, and held a variety of senior positions with KPMG and Ernst & Young specializing in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions.

Laurie has also served a number of boards representing the recycling area including directorships at GreenCentre Canada (2010 to 2013) and the Canadian Plastic Industry Association (2013 to 2017).

Laurie holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and is a Chartered Accountant in Australia. He resides in the Toronto, Ontario area with his wife Sonia and two children.


Paul Faherty

Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer

Paul FahertySince 2005, Paul has led Strategic Materials’ western region which encompasses all operations in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, Washington, Mexico and five Midwest plants. The Western division’s 17 plants currently process over 1.5 million tons of glass annually and are the primary suppliers to the glass container and fiberglass industry in the Western half of North America. Today, Paul leads the company globally as Chief Technology Officer.  Prior to joining Strategic Materials, Faherty worked in the turnaround industry and in the automotive aftermarket.

Paul holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant. He resides in Malibu, California with his wife Mary and two children.
